NGO As A Service

How verification works

Every badge is
backed by a document.

We don't accept self-reported status. Our team reviews every submission manually. Here is exactly what we check, what we accept, and what we reject.

The five sections

What we verify

🏛

Legal Registration

25 ptsLegal ✓

We verify that an NGO is a legitimate registered entity under Nigerian law.

What we require

  • CAC Certificate of Incorporation (IT, CAMA 2020)
  • Constitution or Trust Deed
  • Board Resolution
  • Current board member names and roles
  • Year of establishment

How we verify it

Our review team cross-references CAC numbers against the official CAC portal. Expired certificates, mismatched names, or invalid registration types are flagged and rejected.

💳

Financial Transparency

20 ptsFinancial ✓

We verify that an NGO can account for funds received and spent.

What we require

  • Audited financial statement (last 2 years)
  • Bank statements (6 months)
  • Brief financial narrative (sources of income, major expenses)

How we verify it

Statements must be signed by a registered auditor. We check that income and expenditure figures are internally consistent and that bank statements are not edited PDFs.

📊

Impact Proof

20 ptsImpact ✓

We verify that an NGO has a documented history of real programme delivery.

What we require

  • Programme impact summary (written)
  • Supporting photos or field reports
  • Cloudflare Stream video testimonial or field footage

How we verify it

We review submitted media for evidence of actual activity — location cues, beneficiary presence, programme branding. Generic stock images or clearly staged photos are rejected.

🌐

Digital Presence

10 ptsDigital ✓

We verify that an NGO has a legitimate, consistent online identity.

What we require

  • Functional website (if any)
  • Active social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Consistency between online identity and registration documents

How we verify it

We manually visit every submitted URL. Dead links, private accounts, or profiles that don't match the submitted organisation name are flagged.

📋

Regulatory Compliance

25 ptsCompliance ✓

We verify that an NGO is compliant with Nigerian regulatory obligations.

What we require

  • CAC Annual Returns (CAMA 2020, filed within 12 months)
  • Tax Identification Number (TIN) from FIRS
  • FIRS Certificate of Compliance
  • PAYE registration (if staff on payroll)
  • SCUML registration (where applicable)

How we verify it

This is the most rigorous section. We check filing dates on annual returns, verify TIN numbers, and confirm FIRS certificates are current. Overdue filings result in a conditional status.
